The Formation of AxeWound ~the “Super Band” -Written June 2012

The Formation of AxeWound ~the “Super Band”
Comprised of Bullet For My Valentine’s Matt Tuck on guitar and backing vocals, Cancer Bats’ Liam Cormier on lead vocals, Glamour Of The Kill’s Mike Kingswood on guitar, Joe Copcutt (ex-Rise To Remain) on Bass and Pitchshifter’s Jason Bowld on Drums, AxeWound promises to fulfil and even exceed the expectations of fans by exploring the darker side of metal.
The idea to form the group first came to Tuck after touring with Liam Cornier. Tuck reportedly commented that he had “always admired the furious energy [Cornier] brings to a performance.” This admiration served as the fuel for Tuck’s side project which would later become the basis of AxeWound.  With Cornier’s “furious energy” in mind, Tuck insisted that the Cancer Bats’ vocalist should fly half way around the world to record his vocals in a studio in Wales. In doing this, Tuck realised that this venture would become “something special; way more than just a studio project.”
After countless tweets and interviews from Tuck and Kingswood alluding to the “something special”, thousands of fans across the world began generating stories of what the pair had in store. Rumours exploded across the internet, with suggestions ranging from the story that Kingswood would feature on Bullet For My Valentine’s 4th album to the more outrageous idea that Kingswood and Tuck would be announcing their blossoming romance.
The first day in May saw the revelation of AxeWound and the launch of their first single “Post Apocalyptic Party” on Radio 1. AxeWound gives the musicians members an outlet to explore the heavier side of metal, which they don’t always experience with their melodic, commercial, full-time metal bands. Tuck indicated that music would have a “kind of Slipknot attitude” with particular similarity to their “violent” Iowa album.

AxeWound have by far exceeded fan’s expectations and are set to snowball even further, after already releasing a second single, “Cold”, headlining their own tour and sub-headlining “Download festival” in Jun, as well as announcing their debut album “Vultures” which is set to be released later this summer.
